As you already know, one of the biggest awards schemes in Ghana has refused to nominate the Asakaa boys in recent awards.
It has become a thing most Asakaa fans and people living the Kumerica movement are worried about.
No press statement expressing reasons why these schemes refuse to nominate the young Ghanaian musicians.
Early in 2021, the official record label for Asakaa released an unofficial press statement to detach themselves from the Awards Scheme.
According to a press statement signed by the P.R.O, LIFE LIVING finds certain nominations and categories under which their projects and artistes are placed demeaning, insulting and a disrespectful to their brand and camp.
Life Living emphasizes on the poor review of their works and projects and it’s diaspora (global) influence and disapproves of any attempt to belittle their effort of keeping the Ghana music industry alive the year under review with demeaning nominations hence lashes on the poor assessment by scheme’s board on their impact as a record label and their artistes.
Just as Asakaa wanted, the Awards scheme removed their names from the list of nominees.
VGMA has not actually been neglectful of the Asakaa act. In 2021 VGMA nominated “SORE” for hip-hop song of the year, Best Collaboration of the Year and Vodafone Most Popular Song of The Year. 3 Music Awards as a result refused to nominate the Asakaa boys in any of their categories.
