Career
Whitlock was taken in the Rule 5 draft by the Boston Red Sox in December 2020. In 2021, he was named to the Red Sox’ Opening Day roster. Whitlock made his MLB debut on April 4, 2021, pitching three innings in relief against the Baltimore Orioles, striking out five batters and allowing no runs.
On June 5, he pitched a scoreless 1+23 innings in relief against the Yankees in New York, earning his first major league win. Whitlock hit his first professional hit in an interleague game on June 15, a single against Atlanta Braves reliever Edgar Santana.
